The Story of Hooked Restaurant Sligo (Hooked Café)

The Ethos of Hooked Restaurant: To purchase local and purchase Irish where possible. We believe in using Artisan & Irish producers with the aim of supporting the local and Irish economy. Our Beef is sourced locally and is from grass fed cattle from Sherlock’s of Tubbercurry, Sligo. Our local suppliers call to us daily with fresh produce. Hooked Café Sligo work closely with L.E.T.S Organic Centre, Sligo and forage when in season. We support the local farmers markets and change our restaurants’ menu with seasons. We believe in using all the finest, freshest produce County Sligo has to offer in our Restaurant in Sligo. We provide an all – day dining experience of an informal and easy nature. Just good honest Irish food, in a bistro restaurant café setting – so leave your diet at the door!

Anthony worked with his father Joe Gray in his butcher shop, established on Teeling Street. Anthony’s father provided Sligo with handmade award winning sausages, black & white pudding, cured hams and much more produce. Anthony wants to incorporate a piece of his family history into the menu of what has become one of the restaurants and best places to eat in Sligo town, and share it with everyone. Anthony believes that Sligo and the North West of Ireland produce some of the best ingredients in the world. Our Sligo Town restaurant serves great artisan produce – shellfish, fantastic dairy and with our stunning location on the Wild Atlantic Way, we have so many things to offer. With being just a short cast away from the Garavogue River, we are sure you will be ‘Hooked’ in no time!

    So we begin another year in 2019, as one of the leading places for good coffee in Sligo town, lunch cafes and restaurants in Sligo, Hooked consistently creates delicious dining experiences which showcase the very best locally sourced Irish ingredients. Our ethos supports Artisan and Irish producers in Sligo who deliver the finest fresh produce from the local area directly to us every day. We also work closely with L.E.T.S Organic Centre and even forage a percentage of our ingredients seasonally.

    This passion for local ingredients stems from Anthony’s father, Joe Gray, who provided Sligo with award-winning sausages, cured hams, black & white pudding and much more from his butcher shop on Teeling Street. It is this heartfelt family connection that has helped Hooked to become widely known locally and beyond as one of the very best places to eat in Sligo town.

    Our all-day cafe brasserie menu changes with the seasons, which ensures that we are perfectly placed to offer exciting, honest and ultra-fresh Irish food all year round. Very few coffee spots and lunch restaurants can aspire to a menu that is as diverse and enticing as ours and with everything from sticky slow cooked pork belly to eggs benedict and beer battered crispy fish and chips, we’ve got a hearty dish that will satisfy even the hungriest of lunchtime diners.

    As one of Sligo’s best dinner restaurants, our evening menu is packed full of tempting dishes. Start with a fresh salad or soup before moving on to a main featuring some of the world’s finest shellfish or grass-fed beef, and finish with a decadent dessert that we are certain you won’t forget anytime soon.

    Very few cafes are lucky enough to be situated in such stunning surroundings. You’ll find us on the spectacular Wild Atlantic Way and as the Garavogue River is just outside, we deliver dinner with a view every single time.
